Job Introduction

As Chalet Hotel Manager, you will oversee all of the hotel’s catering and hospitality teams and ensure that these services are consistently delivered to a high standard to delight all of our guests and ensure that they have a seamless, enjoyable stay.

The role of the Chalet Hotel Manager is very varied. You will be fully responsible for everything that occurs within the hotel from guest welfare to stock control and maintenance of the hotel, plus managing and motivating your team. 

You will also be expected to work closely with your Area Manager, Head Chef, Assistant Manager and Hotel and Resort Childcare Managers to ensure that our product is being delivered consistently through all of our resorts.

We are looking for an energetic, experienced manager with high levels of service and commitment. Using a proactive approach, you will aim to achieve all financial goals set by the company whilst delivering the best customer service.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES  AND TASKS

  • Provide an excellent family friendly, carefree holiday to all chalet hotel guests by creating a welcoming, comfortable and maintained environment
  • Managing all operational and guest related aspects of running the Chalet Hotel, co-ordinating all departments ensuring all service and sales targets are achieved
  • Assisting the Senior Management in ensuring the training and development of staff to maximise performance, aid retention and reduce turnover
  • Ensuring all the necessary start of season paperwork for hotel is completed and submitted to include Health & Safety, Fire, Hygiene, brochure accuracy, building works and inventories etc.
  • Complete any training, disciplinary / grievance procedures in accordance with company HR policies and procedures
  • Producing detailed inventories of the Chalet Hotel, staff accommodation and hotel office 
  • When required meeting local suppliers for catering, beverages, cleaning, laundry and confirm the arrangements for orders, deliveries and purchasing 
  • Monitoring the ordering and deliveries of supplies, ensuring that the catering, housekeeping and wine budgets are maintained throughout the season 
  • Delivering a welcome meeting for your guests giving an overview of hotel facilities, resort, meal services for the week including details & arrangements for staff day off and upcoming events
  • Responsible for the standards of catering, housekeeping and general hygiene within the hotel including ski locker rooms and ensure sauna and hot tubs are treated with the relevant chemicals
  • Conducting job performance appraisal meetings with each member of you team during the season to ensure their objectives are set and support staff to aid their personal development and progression
  • Monitoring the performance of the hotel staff and provide continuous training to ensure that the required standards are being achieved 
  • Ensuring all departments are coordinated to maintain smooth operations, efficient lines of communication and seamless service within the hotel ensuring high standards are maintained 
  • Liaising with the Head Chef and review the weekly stock control reports
  • Ensuring all staff welfare responsibilities are met and exceeded
  • Holding weekly staff meeting; ensure that all staff are fully briefed regarding the following week’s arrivals and other important information 
  • Monitoring & actioning any feedback that may arise from guest feedback forms
  • Handling any guest complaints effectively and promptly, whilst demonstrating courtesy, consideration and genuine kindness and aiming for in resort solutions
  • Organising group activities for all staff to maintain good motivation and team spirit
  • Ensuring all hotel entrances, fire exits, balconies and pathways are clear of rubbish internally and are regularly cleared of snow/ice ensuring they are safe to use
  • Completing weekly paperwork reporting including sales, accounts, stock/spend, feedback forms, staff rotas and any registration paperwork 
  • Promoting any company run event to your guests with knowledge and passion
  • Overseeing the cleaning and closing down of the hotel, both interior & exterior including staff accommodation at end of season ensuring all company property is packed, stored, labelled and inventoried correctly
  • Assisting with any other duties as requested by your Area Manager
  • Uphold the reputation of Ski Famille

REQUIREMENTS OF THE ROLE

  • Previous management experience ideally of a young team, working away from home. 
  • Previous experience in high end hospitality delivery with a critical eye for detail
  • Driving experience, ideally of vehicles bigger than cars and ‘on the wrong side of the road’
  • Great self-motivation and organisational skills
  • Friendly, flexible, enthusiastic, approachable, and diplomatic
  • Customer service experience with a guest first approach
  • An understanding of the differences between adult & child holiday needs
  • Experience of managing a young team in a foreign environment
  • Enthusiastic, lively, sociable, friendly and a team player who possesses excellent communication and problem solving capabilities with attention for detail 
  • Knowledge of snow sports is advantageous
  • Team builder with a keen interest in staff development 
  • Fluent English plus at least basic French language skills is preferable & would put you ahead of other applicants!
  • Availability for the whole season (Mid October until end of April)
  • Full Clean Driving Licence (held for at least 2 years)
  • Age 21 or over (age restrictions apply due to the insurance on vehicles)
  • Current Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate or equivalent
  • We will obtain a police-check on your behalf (eg UK DBS) and
  • we will take up at least two references
  • Excellent working knowledge of Google Suite applications plus MS Excel / Word
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to roles, responsibilities and working hours
