Job Introduction

Senior Chalet Host - Ski Famille and Ski Vertigo:

You will be a key part of our resort structure, reporting to the Chalet Manager and Resort Manager, who will have ultimate responsibility for resort chalet operations. This is an ideal position for someone with previous chalet or villa experience in the seasonal hospitality industry who is now looking to take their first step into management.  

Alongside your regular Chalet Hosting duties (morning and evening services), you will work with the resort management team and will be responsible for the stock takes of linen, cleaning supplies and food deliveries. You will also be expected to work closely with the Resort Childcare Team and the Resort Assistants to ensure our product is being delivered cohesively, as well as working with the management team to motivate the wider resort team.

This is a very diverse role, it is an involved position requiring a high level of energy, commitment and a proactive approach.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES  AND TASKS

  • Ensure guests enjoy a seamless, carefree holiday by delivering exceptional service, providing regular chalet visits, and sharing expert knowledge of the resort, activities, and facilities.
  • Create a warm, family-friendly, and professional environment, proactively responding to guest needs and identifying opportunities to enhance their experience and generate additional revenue.
  • Fulfil full chalet hosting duties, including daily housekeeping, weekly deep cleans, and preparing high-quality meals, cakes, and canapés, tailored to various age groups and dietary requirements.
  • Support the daily operations of chalets by maintaining high standards of hygiene, cleanliness, and food presentation, and by overseeing food, cleaning, wine, and linen stock management to minimise waste and overspend.
  • Work alongside the Chalet Manager to motivate, support, and provide pastoral care for the chalet team, including performance feedback and hands-on, in-situ training when necessary.
  • Contribute to and help deliver the resort’s start-of-season training programme, confidently leading sessions and supporting team development throughout the season.
  • Conduct weekly chalet checks and monitor, manage and provide feedback to the chalet team concerning chalet standards.  Working with your line manager providing training ‘in situ’ if required to.
  • Coordinate resort-wide linen distribution and collection, working with suppliers and Resort Managers to ensure timely delivery, accurate inventory, and consistent quality.
  • Collaborate with resort colleagues, UK Head Office, and external partners (e.g. chalet owners, local suppliers) to ensure smooth, cost-effective operations.
  • Represent Ski Famille and Ski Vertigo with professionalism and integrity at all times.

REQUIREMENTS OF THE ROLE

  • Previous experience in high-end hospitality delivery with a critical eye for detail
  • Experience in managing a young team 
  • A keen interest and preferably ability in cooking and catering
  • A working knowledge of HACCP procedures would be advantageous
  • An understanding of good stock management practices
  • Driving experience, ideally of vehicles bigger than cars, and ‘on the wrong side of the road’
  • Great self-motivation and organisational skills
  • Friendly, flexible, enthusiastic, approachable, and diplomatic
  • Able to deliver excellent customer service in all circumstances to guests of all ages
  • An understanding of the differences between adult and child holiday needs
  • Experience with Microsoft Office programmes and ‘Gmail/Google Drive’ IT programmes
  • A proactive problem solver, especially when under pressure
  • Knowledge of snow sports is advantageous
  • A strong and experienced team player
  • At least basic French language skills are preferable and would put you ahead of other applicants! 
  • Availability for the whole season (mid November until the end of April)
  • Full Clean Driving Licence (held for at least 2 years)
  • Age 21 or over (age restrictions apply due to the insurance on vehicles)
  • Current Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate 
  • A current Basic DBS check
